What 40+ Years Looks Like

Oregon Licensing & Permits — What Homeowners Should Know
The license rule: Oregon requires anyone doing construction or repair work on someone else's property for pay to be registered with the Oregon Construction Contractors Board. Keven is licensed and bonded, CCB #255332 — which means real protection if something goes wrong, unlike unregistered cash operators. Always ask any contractor for their CCB number and look it up at ccb.state.or.us before hiring.
The permit rule: work that requires a building permit requires a contractor who can pull one. Around Eugene and Springfield that sometimes surprises people — exterior door replacement can require a permit, and decks over a certain size or height usually do. Small repairs, fixture swaps, and like-for-like replacements typically don't. When in doubt, ask: “Does this job need a permit?” Keven answers that question honestly on every estimate.
Handyman or contractor? If it's repair, replacement, or maintenance without a permit, a licensed handyman is usually the faster, cheaper call. If it's structural, permitted, or a full addition, you need a general contractor — and Keven will say so and refer you to someone he trusts rather than take a job that isn't his to take.
